An impressive six-panel Chinese export folding screen depicting a busy harbor scene executed over a luminous silverleaf ground. The composition illustrates bustling waterfront commerce with traditional Chinese junks, merchants, figures preparing cargoes, fishermen, warehouses and elegantly dressed figures all rendered with exceptional detail and lively narrative.

Structurally sound, hinges appear to be original and are in working order and intact. Scattered paint losses, silverleaf wear, craquelure, small abrasions, edge wear, oxidation. Reverse of screen shows wear from being hung on a wall and there are screw holes on backside of the screen along the top edge from where the screen was previously mounted.
