He held this position until 1881, when he left to establish his own workshop. Celebrated for his innovative glaze techniques and experimental firing methods, Lachenal's work is included in the collections of major institutions such as the Louvre, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Victoria & Albert Museum, among others.

This piece features a textured surface with a distinctive crackled glaze—a hallmark of Lachenal’s work. The vibrant turquoise is accented by darker tonal variations, likely resulting from layered glazes and unique firing processes. This specific technique is sometimes referred to as a volcanic crackle glaze. The color itself, inspired by Deck’s famous bleu Deck, reflects the aesthetics of both the Art Nouveau (1890–1910) and Art Deco (1920–1930) movements. The vase’s elegant shape—with its narrow neck and rounded, ovoid body—is also emblematic of the Art Deco period.
