This … Read more The G Plan 6250 chair with its distinctive wingback was marketed as ‘The most comfortable chair in the world’. This really is exceptionally comfortable with its tall tufted backrest, tilted and swivel seat and thick seating cushion. Commonly known as ‘The Blofeld chair’, as it was the preferred chair of the James Bond super villain Blofeld in the Bond movie ‘You Only Live Twice’ (1967).
Our chair is an early example with the E.Gomme gold back stamp, and retains its original black vinyl - a very similar feel to Naugahyde - in the most wonderful period condition, and sits on a teak base with castors.
Early G-Plan furniture, particularly from the 1950s and 60s, was marked with a gold stamp reading ‘E.Gomme, High Wycombe’ with ‘G Plan’ in bold letters below. This stamp is a key indicator of authenticity for vintage G-Plan pieces. This piece has an attribution mark,
