Look at the dovetail joint detail that secures the sides to the top, and the beautiful curvature of the sides and at the bottom. There are 2 shelves. I think it is cherry but not sure - it's very fine and lovely. The nails are very old. The back has a cross piece at the top for extra support. This would fit beautifully into any decor, and serve so many purposes.... books, a bar, display, towels, linens, or kitchen storage/display. The space between the floor and the bottom shelf is 19" and from the bottom shelf to the top shelf is also 19". See less
