This set includes 1 ice bucket with … Read more Vintage set of Everlast Hand Forged Aluminum ice bucket and tumbler serving set. This set includes 1 ice bucket with it's original lid, 9 tall tumbler glasses, and the original tongs that accompany the ice bucket. The ice bucket has a faux barrel design interesting handles that are shaped like wood beams and a handle on the top that is shaped like a small barrel. The inside of the bucket has thick insulation to keep your ice cold! The cups are tall and have a lovely hand hammered texture throughout. The tongs have a matching hand hammered texture and curved extensions on both sides for easy hanging on the side of the bucket or glasses. The set was made with great craftsmanship and is ready to add flare to your dining room or next cocktail party! This pattern was produced from 1953-1959. The undersides are marked. "Pat. Appld. For 990 Hand Forged Everlast Metal" and "Hand Forged Everlast Metal 987".

Condition:
The glasses and tongs are in excellent condition. The ice bucket is also in great condition but has a dent on one side of the upper lip edge (see photos).

About the company:
Everlast was founded by Louis Schnitzer and his brother-in-law, Nathan Gelfman. They were experienced metalworkers in their homeland of Kiev, Russia before immigrating to the United States in the 1910s. In 1932 they formed Everlast Metal Products Corporation and began producing high-quality, hand-forged aluminum giftware. Hammered aluminum giftware products were, at once, both “old” and “new.” In an era of growing uniformity via factory production, the “made by hand” aspect of these products held an aesthetic appeal for consumers, while their aluminum material made them seem decidedly modern. They operated until they closed their company in 1961.
