Antique Persian papier mache scribes pen box, c.1880
Known as a ‘qalamdan’, these were made to store scribes calligraphy pens and brushes. The side slides in and out to open and close the box. Made of papier mache with hand painted decoration showing a country scene with men on horseback. Good overall condition with age and use wear.
