Fabulous mid-century depiction of the classic in historic, "The Music Lesson" by Nicolas Lancret, a French Rococo painter (1690-1743)
Artist: Nicolas Lancret.
Period: Rococo era.
Setting: A pastoral scene with figures and a musician.
The print is in a decorative, possibly Art Deco or Rococo style frame, the print is on wood, that is one piece as a frame. It is inset in the center in the shape of a quatre foil. it depicts a gentleman playing an instrument for two ladies who are receiving music lessons, lovely tones of green and blue provide the backdrop for colors of blush and blue in the clothing. The frame is ornate in gilt gold done in Florentine style, aged and distressed, with an emerald green paint along the sides.
The original painting is housed at the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
24” x 24” x 1.5”
Very nice condition, without any damage. Minor scuffs that one would expect with age. Ready to hang on the back. a label for the title remains on the back
