A fine French enameled faience moon flask handled vase, with a flattened circular body and a narrow neck. This striking piece is richly decorated in raised enamels—a technique unique to Vieillard & Co., introduced by Amédée de Caranza (1843–1914).
The surface is decorated in the characteristic Islamic style developed by Vieillard, incorporating floral motifs, calligraphic script, and geometric patterns inspired by Persian design. Each color is outlined in a darker hue, imitating the effect of traditional cloisonné wirework, giving it a "faux cloisonné" appearance.
The reverse is clearly marked with the impressed J. Vieillard & Co. Bordeaux stamp, used circa 1845–1865.
A rare and exceptional example of 19th-century French Orientalist ceramics made for the Persian / Moorish market.
