The original wooden bottom slats have been replaced with a new wooden platform for enhanced stability, and modern metal trivets have been added for durability. A section of missing wood at one of the end caps has been replaced to maintain structural integrity. The frame features a varnish that imparts a rustic character, although the bottom front rail is a newer addition with a lighter stain than the original sides, indicating that some components were missing and required rebuilding. The front is also missing the typical curved rail of Empire daybeds but looks fine without it.
