Rare extraordinary Meiji Era Japanese 6-Panel Gold Leaf Byobu Screen depicting a scene with Elephant and Children playing together. Kano school tradition. Gouache and watercolor on paper. Silk border. Lacquered black wood frame with engraved metal corners. Paper and gold leaf sample on back. Beautifully painted. Detailed. Excellent condition - no damage to the painting or back, clean, sturdy, strong hinges. Japan, Meiji Era, circa 1885 to early 1900s.
