Rare piece of Scottish pottery history, mint condition example stoneware flagon made by Govancroft Pottery of Glasgow for Berk Chemicals (f.W. Berk & Co., London), circa 1930s-40s, complete with screw top.
Founded in 1911 by James Buchanan, utilitarian wares and jam jars were primary products until shuttered by fire in 1955, subsequently reopened and defunct by 1976.
Extremely rare to find such an example and in this condition. Very heavy - almost 20 pounds.
