Classic antique Japanese Kutani charger from the Meiji period (1868-1912). Painted in colorful overglaze enamels with alternating panels depicting scenes with animated flying dragons and tranquil home/garden settings, with a small Qilin in the central medallion.
The scenes are richly highlighted with gold/gilt.
The background is a 'dragon scale' pattern in underglaze blue with gold highlights. Three blue floral sprigs on the underside of the rim. Not hallmarked.
This is an eye-catching superior older piece and in perfect condition.
Acquired from a collector of fine Chinese porcelains who has amassed such over the last 40 years - listed by East2West Furniture.
