A captivating mid-century modernist still life painting, executed in oil onto board and dated 1963.
The composition presents a thoughtful arrangement of a jug, lemons, and a pear atop a wood-textured table. The artist has reduced everyday forms into clean, angular planes, creating a rhythm of geometric abstraction that recalls the influence of Cubism.
The palette is bold yet harmonious: sunlit yellows, earthy browns, and muted greens sit against a background of deep blue, charcoal, and grey. The table surface is rendered in warm terracotta with a woodgrain pattern that adds an intriguing layer of texture and visual depth.
