Beautiful large sommerso Murano glass bowl designed by Flavio Poli (Italy, 1960s). Can be used as a bowl, catch-all / vide poche or as an ashtray as well. Made of thick red, dark red and clear Murano glass. Width: 17 cm/6.7''; depth: 12.5 cm/4.9''; height: 5.5 cm/2.2''. Excellent vintage condition.
''Sommerso'' is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
