Published in 1967, "Liberte/ Merdeka" is a folio of prints produced by artists associated with the Bandung Technological Institute in Bandung.Indonesia. This set of eleven prints was essentially the artists’ interpretation of noted Surrealist poet, Paul Eluard’s (French, 1895-1952) poem "Liberte." Consisting of the ‘who’s who’ of the ‘Bandung School’ of artists, this folio of prints can be seen both as an experimental publication in terms of the art-literary collaboration, and also the promotion of the print-making medium within the Indonesian context.
Set of eleven linocuts on paper, each in a folder with the text of the poem, together with a separate index and colophon in a navy folio cover with gold lettering; included in an outer envelope with markings from the library of noted artist Fritz Eichenberg (1901-1990). Each sheet is signed, dated and numbered 70 of 87. The colophon is also numbered. Each sheet is approximately 14.8 x 11 inches.
Including the artists: Mochtar Apin (1923-1994), Zaini (1926-1977), Gregorius Sidharta Soegijo (1932-2006), Popo Iskandar (1927-2000), Angkama Setjadipradja (1913-1984), Jusuf Affendy / Affendi (born 1936), Kabul Soecadi / Suadi (1935-2010), Sitti Farida Srihadi (1942-2023), Abdul Djalil Pirous (born 1943), But Mochtar (1930 - 1990) and Achmad Sadali (1924-1987).

There is writing by Eichenberg on one outer part of a folder, not on a linocut. The outer most envelope is ragged, and included because of the notes fro Eichenberg's library. less
