The Mid Century Modern exhibition poster print is published by Mourlot - Imp. Paris, printed in France in 1959 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the " Peintures Recentes - Gouaches Recentes " exhibitions at both The Knoedler Gallery and The Berggruen Gallery in Paris. It features an Abstract Expressionist artwork image created by Poliakoff titled " Composition Carmin, Jaune, Grise et Bleue ".

Serge Poliakoff ( 1900 - 1969 ) was a Russian born French Modernist painter who belonged to The New Ecole De Paris Tachisme Art Movement. After World War II the term School of Paris often referred to Tachisme, the European equivalent of American Abstract Expressionism. Poliakoff worked among other well known artists in the movement including Jean Paul Riopelle, Jean Dubuffet, Piere Soulages, Nicolas De Stael, Hans Hartung, Sonia and Robert Delaunay among others. The intuitive, expressive, and lyrical Abstract artworks of Poliakoff are considered some of the most important of his era, and are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

The venerable famous printing house of Imprimerie Mourlot Paris was founded in 1852 by The Mourlot Family. It is known worldwide for its fine art lithography printing, and one of their most important contributions was to be the art poster. Mourlot became the place where posters were prepared and produced as works of art in their own right.

Beginning in the 1930's Fernand Mourlot invited the major master artists of the time into the lithography studio to learn the medium of printing together. Encouraging the artists to work directly on the lithography plates to create original prints and posters in limited editions. The results of this artistic collaboration between master artists and Mourlot became internationally known for their originality, beauty, and exquisite craftsmanship.

The Modernist framed Paris exhibition poster measures 18 1/2" W X 27" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish charcoal gray metal framed molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, very light signs of handling, and very light minor wear.
