This whimsical cutie will serve perfectly as a complement to a grouping of like-minded baskets on a tabletop, etagère or tucked onto a shelf in a built-in book or display case. It is a two-piece diminutive basket handcrafted from rattan splints and weavers that have been interwoven into a visually interesting pattern; naturally aged lacquered rattan has mellowed into a tawny hue. The hen’s comb, beak and tail are made from bamboo wood; button eyes are red with black centers. This cutie measures as follows:

Overall: 3½” x 3½” x 4½” W/D/H
Interior: 2½” x 2½” x 1¼” W/D/H (bottom portion)
Weight: 1 oz.

In excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. Though the label is long gone, this rattan and bamboo beauty was handcrafted by Shanghai Handicrafts about the time President Nixon opened trade between China and the United States, sometime in the early to mid 1970s. For a collector of diminutive and playful figural handwoven baskets, this cutie should be a must have or the perfect gift for someone who is.
