This Maurice De Vlaminck rare vintage 1949 first edition Fauvism fine art lithograph print " Les Barques " 1905, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Fine art lithograph print is published by Editions D'Art Albert Skira, Geneve. Printed in Switzerland in an unnumbered limited edition by Roto-Sadag in Geneva on March 25th in 1949, as part of a 1st edition Swiss portfolio of De Vlaminck lithograph prints from The Treasures of French Painting Collection directed and presented by Albert Skira. With an important memorable essay in French language by Raymond Queneau titled " Vlaminck or The Vertigo of Matter ".
The Fauvism lithograph print features an artwork image originally created by De Vlaminck in 1905 titled " Les Barques " ( The Boats ).
Maurice De Vlaminck ( 1876 - 1958 ) was a major Twentieth Century French painter. Along with Andre Derain and Henri Matisse he is considered one of the principal figures in The Fauvism Art Movement. They all exhibited their highly innovative paintings at the controversial Salon D'Atomne in 1905. The vivid, unnatural colors led the art critic Louis Vauxcelles to name their works as " Les Fauves ", or " The Wild Beasts ", marking the start of The Fauvist Movement. Artworks by De Vlaminck are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The lithograph print plate image measures 9 7/8" W X 8 1/8" H, on a page that is 14 7/8" W X 11" H. The print is attached to the page with a method called " tipping " where it is attached by hand on the top edge. Behind the print plate on the page is the title, size and collection of the original artwork.
The rare out of print 1st edition Fauvism lithograph print is in excellent clean vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
