As iconic as they are visually fascinating this rare set of two was produced in 1973 by the renowned Knoll International Group. Recently restored and reupholstered by our craftsmen this set represents a modern twist on the classic design featuring new Green Kravet Couture Mohair fabric which is vintage-feeling and kind to the touch. The airy base, created by the forging and bending of steel wire required more than 1,000 individual welds which come together to create one of the most endearing designs ever produced by Knoll or any American furniture maker before or since.

Warren Platner studied at Cornell University, graduating in 1941 with a degree in architecture. He went on to work with legendary architects Raymond Loewy, Eero Saarinen, and I. M. Pei before opening his own architecture practice. Platner made notable architectural contributions throughout his career, including the Georg Jensen Design Center and the Windows on the World restaurant in the World Trade Center, both in New York City. It was his furniture collection for Knoll, however, that earned Platner worldwide renown. Originally introduced by Knoll in 1966, the Platner Collection has become a lasting icon of modern furniture.
