Gabielle Chanel, also known as Coco Chanel, was born in 1883, in the city of Saumur, in the region of Loire (known for its castles), was raised in an orphanage of nuns and she became famous for their fashion designs but also for her determination, ambition and vitality that applied in her professional and social life.
She produced a rupture with the opulent and little practical elegance of the Belle Époque, creating an informal, simple and comfortable clothes design. She got her strength also as a designer of handbags, fragrances, hats and jewellery. The tweed dress, the Chanel No 5 and the pearls make part of the brand’s DNA.
Our Saumur armchair, with its structure as if it were a succession of pearls, make us think of this character, taking the name of her hometown to our seat. Labeled by Maker
