Pair of Blue and White Chinese Porcelain Jars, lids with Foo Dog Finials. Jars feature dragon motifs. Jars are in the traditional baluster shape and lids have a domed shape with the foo dog figure as a finial on top. In Chinese culture, foo dogs are believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune, while the dragon represents imperial power, strength and good fortune. The foo dogs as protectors and the dragons as symbols of celestial power and prosperity make these jars not only beautiful decorative objects, but also meaningful pieces imbued with deep cultural significance.
