The Modernist poster print is published by The Museum Prints Society, printed in 1960 in an unnumbered limited edition as part of a folio of eight French posters including works by Picasso, Chagall, Leger, Matisse, and Miro.

It features an iconic French poster artwork image originally created by Matisse in 1950 titled " Maison De La Pensee Francaise ". The original poster from which this poster is reproduced was first published and printed by Mourlot Paris on the occasion of the exhibition.

This is a rare opportunity for true Matisse and Modernism fans and collectors as this coveted image French poster print is long out of print and very scarce to find.

Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) the French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The 20th Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. Artworks by Matisse are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

The venerable famous printing house of Imprimerie Mourlot Paris was founded in 1852 by The Mourlot Family. It is known worldwide for its fine art lithography printing, and one of their most important contributions was to be the art poster. Mourlot became the place where posters were prepared and produced as works of art in their own right.

The rare out of print framed vintage French poster print measures 15 7/8" W X 20" H X 1 3/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern recessed detail matte eggshell finish black metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and some light minor visible surface wear.
