Each plate features a hand-painted 18th century figure (male and female) elegantly attired and reaching outside the center portrait medallion with a handful of grapes -- in classic trompe l'oeil style! Perfect for a dazzling tabletop, cabinet, or wall display -- or for an elegant and whimsical luncheon with friends. They are marked and signed on the bottom. Just gorgeous!

Please note that these plates come in sets of two -- one male and one female per set. A total of five sets are available. Because the plates are hand-painted, there are slight variations in the rendering of the figures, although when viewed from a distance, they appear nearly identical. Please also note that the original purchaser of these plates appears to have employed them in the dining room, as they exhibit light wear consistent with such use. This minor wear does not detract from the overall look of the plates, but it does enhance their vintage character! See less
