This is a matted original chromolithograph botanical that dates to the 1860’s! It is one of the oldest antique images we have in our collection. It has a wonderful quality and a rich depth of color, tone and texture. This chromolithograph features the Christmas Rose. This image came from a rare French book, Atlas d’Histoire Naturelle Botanique published in Paris and illustrated by a famed German naturalist, G H Schubert (1780-1860) in the 1860's. We were fortunate to “happen” upon this book in Paris and have since learned that this book can no longer be found in rare book dealers’ collections. This is a RARE, RARE find! The chromolithograph is in excellent antique condition. Measures 7 inches x 10 ¼ inches. Comes custom matted in a neutral tone 16 x 20 inch mat ready for standard size frame.
