Offered is a set of 2 large 1960s vintage tribal Mola hand-made textiles, framed.
Mola is a traditional textile craft by the Kuna tribe on the San Blas Islands in Panama, featuring layers of colored fabrics, stitched and cut using appliqué and cut-out techniques and top-stitching to create patterns and abstract figurative scenes. One features birds in cream colored appliqué with yellow and multicolored details with a mocha colored matting. The other appears to be a striped deer with a frog on its back with a yellow appliqué outline and multicolored details on a charcoal/coffee matting. Both are a reddish burgundy background. The frames are a brushed and polished chrome plated metal with glass. They would look great on a boho chic gallery wall, in a foyer/den/library, anywhere you would enjoy pops of color and textured hand-made art.
Dimensions: Deer/Frog frame is 20.75" wide, 18.5" high, .625" deep, frame is .5" thick, textile is 12" x 9.5". Birds frame is 21.375" wide, 18.5" high, .625" deep, frame is .5" thick, textile is 15.5" x 13.5"
