Two are talking to each other, two others are speaking to horsemen. All seem to be wondering. In big game hunting, this scene illustrates the preliminary moment when the hunters make the "report" (report) of the animals whose tracks they have detected. The horseman, on the right, to whom the hunters are speaking, was thought to represent Mary of Hungary, sister of Charles V, because of her way of riding astride, which earned her the nickname "the Male Huntress."
