A striking and brilliantly executed mid-century modernist style still life composition, executed in oil onto board.

The central object that punctuates the composition is a light blue pitcher, whose elongated shape gives it a strong presence .Surrounding the pitcher are geometric shapes—a blue cube, a yellow block, and a lemon—that create a rhythm of forms around the central figure. The background consists of abstract, overlapping planes in warm as well as earthy tones – with shades of yellow, brown, red, and green, adding depth to the composition.

This piece reflects the modernist focus on simplification and abstraction, capturing a scene through shapes, colours, and a deliberate absence of fine detail.

Rather than blending, the artist has used defined colour areas that maintain the integrity of each shape and add to the painting’s geometric quality. The contrasting colours are arranged in a harmonious and cohesive manner, imbuing the work with liveliness.
