An enchanting demi-lune console table, finished in the luminous Farrow & Ball shade Stone Ground and transformed into an evocative work of coastal assemblage art. The apron is richly adorned with hand-collected shells in soft natural tones, creating a sculptural composition reminiscent of ocean grottoes, European coquillage salons, and the romance of the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Both whimsical and elegant, the piece suggests a dreamlike fusion of oceanic materiality and antique craftsmanship. The graceful demi-lune silhouette and delicately textured shellwork give the table an ethereal presence while remaining highly functional for everyday interiors.

Originally from Ballard Designs, the table has been artistically reimagined into a one-of-a-kind statement piece. Painted and softly distressed in Farrow & Ball’s Stone Ground, the finish carries warm silvery-gold undertones that beautifully complement the natural shells and textures.

Nancy Campbell Ashley—known to friends and collectors as Fancy—is the artist behind May River Neptune, creating one-of-a-kind shell-encrusted sculptural works inspired by the Southern coastline. Raised in Charleston, South Carolina, her lifelong connection to the sea began with childhood summers spent gathering shells along Sullivan’s Island and Edisto Beach.

With a background in art history and high-end interior design, Fancy brings a curator’s eye and storyteller’s sensibility to each piece. Working from her cottage studio on the May River in Bluffton, SC, she creates assemblage objects that blend coastal memory, antiquarian detail, and timeless craftsmanship—celebrating the beauty of imperfection through natural materials.
