Old knarly grainy wood pieces were selected to form this square table. Each log is hand chiselled, irregular and purposely chosen to create the informal "country" look. The top two pieces are easily taken apart. The other pieces can be knocked down and re-assembled.
The history and provenance of this table are unknown. It was found in the furniture market in South China near Guangzhou (formerly Canton. ) Was this inspired by Western rustic furniture or was it an indigenious Chinese design that originated from border regions?
It is difficult to identify what kind of wood was used. The table is heavy. The wood has been weathered for a long time. It is still a sturdy piece. The top could have been a removable piece of wood, or glass, or stone. Right now it is.
