Excellent Rustic Pre-Owned Condition.
Note: Pot and plant are not included.
Fabulous rustic branch and twig drinks or display table offering an all-around open branch design. Top it with a verdant potted plant in an entryway or use it outdoors as a drinks table on a screened-in patio or covered deck. Handcrafted from what we believe to be birch wood with bark that was peeled off. The maker of the table added offcuts which is a woodworking term for adding wood pieces to make straight furniture legs look flared at the bottom, so the legs have a flared saber leg look-and-feel. The tabletop’s decorative wooden slat design is affixed to a wood substrate that was finished with an all-around split branch edge. The double branch box-shaped stretcher at the base of the legs provides structural integrity and balance. Naturally weathered finish; excellent structural condition with age-appropriate wear. Wear includes two missing wooden slats on the tabletop surface (see all photos); one crosswise missing branch on the backside (see photos 7 which is intact & 8 which is missing the branch) to see the difference. These “bumps and bruises” do not detract from the table’s beauty, integrity or utility. This beauty measures 29” x 17” x 12” H/W/D; tabletop 15¾” x 10¾” W/D; weight approximately 8 lbs. We believe this table was made in the United States by an unknown maker sometime in the mid 20th-century (1950s to 1960s). We hope you’ll agree that this rustic beauty will be a fabulous complement in any space, indoors or outdoors, at a rustic lake home, mountain cottage or cabin retreat.

Adirondack Furniture History
Historically speaking, the main roots of rustic furniture making in America reach to the so-called Romantic Movement that flourished in the 19th century and was marked by the attitude that contact with nature had a soothing healing effect. Summering in the mountains was seen as the clear antidote for the debilitating, relentless stress of urban industrial living. As a result, the “Great Camps” of the Adirondacks and the various resorts and retreats in the Smokies, Appalachians and Catskills sprang up. Their architecture and furnishings reflected the romantic notion of intimacy with nature. More practically, however, the use of native locally available materials kept costs down while also employing local craftspeople. Finally, both builders and users found something immensely pleasing in this modestly meek but beautiful furniture.
