The top has a subtle arbalete curve with quarter-round molding, while the sides have a more definitive protruding shape. All three drawers have well-carved fronts consisting of two shaped panels that flank a heart-shaped console with leaf tendrils. Additional foliate motifs in the form of margents have been carved outside of the shapely panels with rich molding. Each drawer has been affixed with a pair of bronze handles detailed with volutes and pot feu. In the center of the drawer is an escutcheon of flowers, patterned ground, and a shell. The highly sinuous front apron is paired with crossbow forms on the two galbee sides. A thick and undulating pilaster with thin molding separates the sides from the front, enhancing the curves of the chest of drawers. The 18th-century commode has a rich dark brown patina, making it an attractive and functional option for any bedroom of the house. See less
