This lovely pair of Japanese Imari Meiji period six panel scalloped chargers are entirely hand painted with much detail and feature three panels depicting birds and butterflies amongst foliage and flowers with the other three panels decorated with a fanciful floral motif. The center medallion has iron red flowers and cobalt blue leaves. Twelve addition panels with scalloped edges frame the outer rim of the chargers. The decorations are done with an underglaze of blue and overpainted with iron red, green, and gold enamels. The reverse has some decoration in an underglaze blue and mark in the center.
Stabilizing sturdy hangers on the back.
