About The Poster: Quinquina-based apéritifs were popular in the early 20th century following their invention by Dubonnet in 1846. Originally advertised for consumers of all ages for their medicinal properties, apéritifs quickly caught on as an enjoyable drink. This double image reflects both realities - depicting a man enjoying the drink with a cigarette in the top half and with his meal in the bottom half. This poster was designed in 1936 by twin brothers Pierre and Jacques Bellenger, which makes the mirror image even more interesting. Their collective signature features both a "P" and a "J".
