The two-part composition is mounted on its original hand-carved oak backboard, richly detailed with molded and raised geometric motifs typical of Norman craftsmanship. The upper brass reservoir features a softly rounded rectangular form topped with a fitted lid crowned by elegant finials, and is fitted underneath with dual brass spouts designed to feed water into the basin below. The lower demi-lune basin is flanked by rounded side handles and rests on a dramatic pointed oak support, giving the piece strong vertical presence and sculptural appeal.
The warm satin brass contrasts beautifully against the deep time-darkened oak, creating a refined yet rustic aesthetic that works equally well in traditional or curated modern interiors.
