Presenting a vintage Italian majolica style tureen, an eye-catcher for any collection, but also perfect in size for serving baba ganoush, Italian roasted eggplant dip, sauces or gravies. The body is painted & glazed in all the shades of eggplant purple, violet and midnight blue. The Trompe L'Oleil "stem" and lid portion are in colors of green ranging from spring grass green to chartreuse, a stunning complement to the colors of the eggplant. The lid has a hole in the handle which can be utilized to decorate the piece with ribbon, twine or a spray of fresh herbs.
The makers mark for Vietri and Italy are found on the underside.
