A rare original period antique First Limited Edition Safari Style print after watercolor portrait of Lord Albemarle by Mortimer Menpes. Comes from a rare First Limited Edition book by Mortimer Menpes, published in London, England, in 1901. Signed in the print. Gold leaf top edge, original title page. Excellent condition - minor age wear on the white border, never framed.
Arnold Keppel, 8th Earl of Albemarle commanded the Prince of Wales's Own Civil Service Rifles with the rank of Colonel, from 1892 to 1901.
Mortimer Menpes, born 1855 - died 1938, was an Australian-born artist, author, printmaker & illustrator. Menpes painted in oil and watercolour as well as being a prolific printmaker, producing over 700 etchings and drypoints during his career to great acclaim. London, 1901.
This original period antique print, like all other prints after paintings of Mortimer Menpes created by Menpes himself.
