Arne Jacobsen invented the Egg chair. Designed in 1958 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, it is a Scandinavian classic that has over the years become a fixture of corporate offices. The Egg chair is notable for its overtly organic appearance, which Jacobsen achieved with craft-based padding and upholstery finishing.
This 2008 edition marks the chair’s 50th anniversary, featuring a rare green upholstery option that sets it apart from standard models. Its design reflects the enduring legacy of Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen’s commitment to innovation in modern furniture.
*** I'm having a hard time representing the color correctly. When I upload the photos they look more neon green but the last photo, which is a vintage Egg Chair from 1st Dibs most accurately represents the green upholstery color.
