Sumptuous and imposing wooden frame in Rococo style with double mirror, carved and gilded; the central mirror is surrounded by … Read more Sumptuous and imposing wooden frame in Rococo style with double mirror, carved and gilded; the central mirror is surrounded by a carved frame, linear and austere with beaded decoration and pinecone shaped ends; the upper part, exceptionally carved, includes an oval mirror decorated at the top with a soft ribbon from which two cords with tassels at the end, adorned with rich floral decorations; the whole is a veritable blaze of magnificence and abundance in the Rococo style. On the wooden frame, already carved, a mixture of gypsum (calcium carbonate), vegetable sticky resins, honey, linseed oil, and marble dust was deposited (a "pastiglia" process born in Italy at the end of ' 400), then the "Armenian bolo" (red pigmented clay powder, mixed with glue) was applied, once dried it was applied with the application of very thin gold leaves (leaf gilding).
