Lee Edward Travis was a pioneering psychologist and speech scientist known for his contributions to speech pathology and communication disorders. He served as the president of the American Speech Correction Association (now the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, ASHA) from 1935 to 1936.


Travis was influential in early research on the neurological basis of speech and stuttering. He was one of the first to apply neurophysiological approaches to understanding speech disorders.
