Lovely 6-piece collection of vintage Fostoria in the highly sought-after amethyst Jamestown pattern. A beautiful purple hue to enhance any tabletop.
The Fostoria company was founded in 1887 in Fostoria, Ohio thanks to local availability of natural gas from nearby fields to fire their kilns. The discovery turned out to be short-lived and the operation moved to Moundsville, WV where gas and coal were plentiful. So popular were their products, that all presidents from the Eisenhower to Reagan eras purchased glassware from the company. After being acquired by another fabricator, the company ceased operations in 1986 after almost a century of leadership in the American glass tradition.
Excellent vintage condition with no clouding, no chips, no cracks, no scratches. Possibly unused.
