A 3 serigraph poster from American graphic designer Paula Scher's (born 1948) Numbers Series. Signed to the lower right and numbered 40/125 to the lower left, this print has a large number 3, filling almost the entire paper. Thin white stripes break up the gray background. Where the white stripes meet the "3," the ink is a brown shade. Colorful striping borders the black stripes. The poster is unframed.
Paula Scher was born in Washington, D.C. and is a well-established graphic designer, painter, and educator. Scher received a BFA from the Tyler School of Art, later teaching at New York's School of Visual Arts. She worked for CBS Records, Atlanta Records, and founded her own design company Koppel & Scher. Additionally, she was the first female principal at Pentagram, a design firm founded in London with offices in New York. Scher has been awarded highly, including being admitted into the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame in 1998, Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design in 2000, AIGA Medal 2001, and the National Design Award (Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian) in 2013.
