Though stylistically distinct, these movements share a sense of refinement that resonates beautifully in this Petite Settee. Designed in the early 1950s, it embodies a seamless blend of both influences—its graceful silhouette reminiscent of the work of Thonet and Alvar Aalto, with slender bentwood arms and just the right amount of upholstery to maintain its sophisticated presence.

Our team undertook an extensive restoration, carefully bringing the piece down to its frame. The bentwood arms were meticulously refinished, revealing a warm, honeyed grain that enhances the wood’s natural character. We replaced all interior padding and support, sculpting each element to honor the original curves of the design.

For the upholstery, we selected a luxurious Ivory Wool from the renowned Holland & Sherry, featuring a delicate herringbone weave that subtly enhances the settee’s contours. To define its form further, we finished the edges with a Sepia Linen piping trim, a refined contrast that complements the richness of the wood arms.
