The … Read more Chinese porcelain rhomboid vase, a finely formed, rhomboid shape vase with a white glazed exterior, interior and inset base. The four sides are decorated with a finely drawn and detailed, winter landscape of a mountain hermitage with workmen and travelers, amid snow-laden pines, trees, rocks, and bushes on two of the large faces and a boatman poling his skiff on small lake amid snowy, bouldered shores with an inscription in black, caoshu script and two red seal marks on the other two large faces, all having soaring, mountain peaks disappearing into the distance in Chinese, aerial perspective. The smaller details show masterful use of gold wire craquelure in parts of the snowy scenes. A red, Xu Ren Chu Pin mark in Zuanshu script within a square is glazed to the inset base. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu, small, kang stand is included. Circa Republic of China period, no later than mid century.

Xu Ren Chu Pin: Product of Jingdezhen painter, He Xuren (1882 - 1940), one of the "Eight Friends of Zhushan", a former, imperial kiln site and a nickname for Jingdezhen proper. These eight painters began organizing in 1927 and met once a month as the "Full Moon Group" later adding two more members.
