This exquisite piece exemplifies the Louis XVI style, characterized by its clean lines, simple forms, and restrained use of color. Marked on the underside with the blue underglaze hunting horn, or cor de chasse, the hallmark of the Chantilly Porcelain Manufactory. Established in the Prince de Condé’s château at Chantilly, France, the manufactory operated from about 1730 to 1805. Similar plates, dated circa 1770–1780, are in the Victoria & Albert Museum collection. An outstanding addition to a collection or a significant gift for a French porcelain enthusiast.
