A small center bowl in an oval shape from the Art Nouveau period from the factory that is considered the birthplace of Sweden's most decorative objects. It features a poured brown/blue exterior glaze and the signature Rorstrand blue glaze on the bowl interior. It is marked with the Rorstrand 3-crown printed mark which first came into use in 1894.
This piece is indicative of the revolutionary forms in the Art Nouveau style that Rorstrand produced in the period between 1870 and 1900, when they competed successfully with Galle and Tiffany in the great international exhibitions.
The piece is pristive save for a 1/4" frit under the lip of the bowl, as shown in the photo. The frit is not visible when displayed, it aonly appears when viewing the underside.
The bowl still carries the old auction labels of Runfeldts, an auction house in Stockholm. Seller will remove if requested by buyer before shipment.
