This original aquatint etching by Hans Figura depicts Graben Street in Vienna, Austria, with the iconic Column of Pest sculpture prominently featured in the foreground. The artwork is highly detailed, showcasing Figura’s renowned craftsmanship. His signature is located along the lower edge of the piece.
Professionally matted and set behind glass, the etching is housed in a custom black wood frame by the Robert Simpson Company Limited. Hans Figura, an Austrian artist best known for his European and American aquatint etchings, created over 850 works, primarily in color, capturing historical tourist landscapes and cityscapes throughout Europe. His technique closely resembles that of his contemporaries, Luigi Kasimir and Josef Eidenberger. Born in 1898, Figura’s artistic legacy continued until his passing in 1978.
