Detachable collars came into popularity on men's dress shirts in the mid-1800's. Invented by a wife tired of washing her husband's entire shirt by hand, when only the collars would become soiled. These collars dominated men's dress shirts until the invention of home washing machines in the early 20th century making it laundry easier and attached collars, again, became the norm.
This cloche lamp is a unique and clever display of the detachable collars that were salvaged from the closet of a Parisian florist. It would be perfect displayed in a man's closet or office for a one-of-a-kind accent.
