This is a c1900 antique French botanical by Gustave Fraipont (1849-1929), born in Belgium and later naturalized as a French citizen. He was a painter, sculptor, illustrator and poster artist. Today his works are collectible and sold at international auction houses. Fraipont is known for his poster art, book illustrations and botanicals showing wonderful details. His botanicals were originally done in watercolor. This pint is in pristine antique condition with no indication of age discoloration, rips or tears. It features the "nasturtium." It is abundant and lush with blossoms and foliage. Zoom in to note the intricacies and detailing. Note the strong yellow, orange and green tones. The image is bright and vibrant.. It i very much "alive" and it will enliven your wall decor. Signed by the artist in lower left corner. The image is 10 x 13.5 inches in size.
