Antique early 20th century Paiwan (Taiwan) hand-carved wooden bookends of aboriginal man and woman. Unique, rare piece made circa 1915-1925 for trade with Europeans and Americans. The item was brought in the USA in early 1950s by a Berkeley, CA resident after a prolonged stationing on the island. Provenance is available upon request with the purchase of the item.
Very good condition. No wood splitting or chipping. Uneven black staining on the woman's face. Each piece is approx. 3.5"X3.5"X8"H and weights approx. 1.5 lbs.
