A fluted bowl by Walter Bosse, re-knowned Austrian designer of functional and decorative objects in ceramic and, later, bronze. Marked BOSSE, Made in Austria, the bowl was likely made between 1924 and 1936 when Bosse was producing ceramics in his studio in Kufstein, Austria. He made many figures, in different media, fancifull and practical, over the course of his career, but it is hard to find early functional pieces from his early periods. We have not seen a bowl like this before. Its color and shape alone makes it a special complement to other ceramic pieces by Bosse and other Modernist ceramic artists.

Otherwise the glaze is intact, the form is beautifully delineated, and the BOSSE mark is clear. less
